“Caleb has been a huge leader and mentor throughout my college career in the Adventure Education major. One key leadership role Caleb had was the teaching assistant position for the challenge course class which focused on different methods of team building. Not only did we learn how to create opportunities for team building for others, but our class got to experience team building first hand as we participated in a number of games initiatives and debriefs. Being in a class with Caleb as the teaching assistant, I learned a lot about myself as well as others in my group. Caleb has a super outgoing personality and can bring out the energy in even the mellowest of groups. He knows how to promote playfulness, but is always ready to dive deeper and exudes confidence and experience when in serious conversation. He doesn’t just wait for people to open up on their own, but is encouraging and his presence makes people want to share how they truly feel. He provides people the opportunities to grow in trust and share in a safe space. He also pushes people to be the best and most real they can be. In a group, he doesn’t want perfect fakers. Rather, he wants imperfect people who can be real with each other. He has helped facilitate a number of conversations dealing with conflict while also facilitating a number of debriefs to help our group identify both our accomplishments as well as areas of growth. Caleb acts as a natural born leader in my eyes because of his ability to capture peoples’ attention while maintaining a constant compassion and care for individuals with a drive to help groups strive to be the best they can be. His ability to be present to each member of a group and make everyone feel heard is incredible. As I looks back on my experience in both the challenge course class and other classes, he has been the major reason for my growth in the adventure education program and my growth as a member of a team. The best part is that through every experience he demonstrates a pure and genuine joy for leading and investing in groups.”

“I highly recommend Caleb as an adventure guide. I think I've experienced personal growth every time I've been on an adventure trip with Caleb--both through being physically challenged and through meaningful conversations. With his combined outdoors experience, leadership, and deep intentionality, he is able to guide people closer to nature, themselves, each other, and God. He actually cares about every single person on the trip, no matter where they're at in life, which is an increasingly rare quality in my experience. I've had so much fun caving, hiking, climbing, rappelling, and canoeing. If you go on one of Caleb's trips, you will not regret it.”

“Caleb led me and 3 co-workers on a low-ropes course experience, and I really enjoyed it! We did some cool activities together, and it was a lot of fun. We were able to use the time to think about how we worked together as a team. Overall the day went smoothly, it was fun, and it was fruitful!”

“In college, I helped Caleb lead a team-building workshop on giving and receiving feedback for a group of RA's. Even though I was helping to lead this event I learned a great deal from Caleb while working with him. Caleb is easy to work with, comes up with creative ideas, and will adapt a plan to best fit what the group needs. While we were leading this workshop Caleb took time to really get to know the people we were working with, he answered questions well, used easily understood visuals and stories to illustrate concepts, and even opened up and became vulnerable himself to demonstrate an idea to the group. After we lead the event the RD reached out to us to let us know that he has seen the activity that we lead done by other people and how well we led it; Caleb played a key role in the success of this workshop.”

Caleb has always been a friendly mentor and trusted friend during my time at Messiah. He is the prime example of what a Godly Christian young man should be and is a true testament to God working in Caleb’s life as he lives out his faith in such a joyous way through adventure programming. He is patient, kind, and pushes you to be the best even if it may be uncomfortable and is discerning to know when to do that. His leadership both at Messiah and at Camp Hebron has shown that he is servant hearted and selfless in his pursuit of ministering to young people through adventure programming and I am excited to see where God leads him as he continues Guide. Yay Caleb!
